Signs it is Time for Inpatient Care

Knowing when it is time to call for inpatient care for you or a loved one is generally accompanied by some clear signs:

• Increased and uncontrolled pain

• Sudden deterioration of the patient’s condition that requires immediate nursing intervention
• Unmanageable respiratory distress
• Symptoms that require relief from intravenous medications

Unlike inpatient care at medical facilities like a hospital wing, which comes with the hustle and bustle of a busy hospital, inpatient care at a hospice is very different. Generally, inpatient hospice care is much calmer and quieter and resembles an environment that is almost home-like so as not to cause patients any additional stress.

During this level of care, our compassionate team evaluates patients to determine the best way to control their symptoms. Our highly qualified team collaborates with the patient’s physician to create a new and updated personalized care plan. Intensive symptom management is provided with around-the-clock care and regular visits.

Our end goal is to get our patient’s symptoms managed in a relatively short time so they can go back home to a lower level of hospice care.
